GCash is the Philippines' leading finance super app, used by 81 million people for payments, savings, transfers and loans. This 2026 guide explains what GCash is and whether it's safe, how to register and verify, the GSave interest rates, the cash-in/out and transfer fees, the credit products (GLoan, GGives, GCredit), the wallet limits, and customer service.
What is GCash and is it safe?
GCash is a finance super app operated by Mynt (backed by Globe and Ant Group), with 81 million active users. It is a BSP-licensed e-money issuer — regulated, but not a bank. One important nuance: your GCash e-money balance does not carry the PHP 1,000,000 PDIC deposit insurance, because GCash itself isn't a bank. However, money you move into GSave is deposited with partner banks (like CIMB), which are PDIC-insured. So for larger savings, keep funds in GSave (a partner bank) rather than as a plain wallet balance.
How to register and verify your account
Verifying unlocks the full features and limits. You need one valid government ID:
- In the app go to Profile > Verify Now > Get Started;
- Enter the 6-digit code sent to your number, input your birthday and citizenship;
- Scan your ID, take a selfie, and submit.
Wallet limits depend on your tier:
| Tier | Wallet limit |
|---|---|
| GCash Basic | PHP 10,000 |
| Fully Verified | PHP 100,000 |
| GCash Plus | PHP 500,000 |
| GCash Platinum | PHP 1,000,000 |
A Fully Verified account also has a PHP 100,000 monthly incoming and PHP 100,000 daily outgoing limit.
GSave and savings interest rates
GSave lets you earn interest with partner banks inside the app. As of 1 June 2026:
- GSave by CIMB: base rate 2.30% per annum; pre-selected users can upgrade to CIMB Grow at 4.00% p.a.;
- BPI (#MySaveUp): 0.0925% p.a.
Because GSave money sits in a partner bank, it benefits from that bank's PDIC insurance — making GSave the smarter place to hold savings versus a plain GCash balance.
Cash in and cash out fees
How you load and withdraw money affects the cost:
- Cash in over-the-counter: free up to PHP 8,000 per month, then a 2% fee on amounts above that;
- Linked banks: BPI charges PHP 15; UnionBank charges PHP 5 for transactions over PHP 1,000 (from 16 February 2026);
- PayPal: 1% fee (from 7 March 2026); Payoneer: free;
- Cash out: offline partner cash-outs cost 2%; RCBC Scan-to-Withdraw is PHP 18 per transaction.
Sending money and bank transfers
Sending money within GCash is free for your first 500 send/receive transactions each month, after which a PHP 5 fee applies for select power users. Transfers to banks via InstaPay or PESONet cost PHP 15 per transaction, with a maximum of PHP 50,000 per transfer. For most users, everyday GCash-to-GCash transfers and QR Ph payments are effectively free.
Credit on GCash: GLoan, GGives, GCredit
GCash offers several credit products to eligible users (based on your GScore):
- GLoan: PHP 500 to PHP 150,000 at 1.59% to 6.99% per month (a mini version, GLoan Sakto, offers PHP 100 to PHP 500 at 0% interest);
- GGives: buy-now-pay-later with interest of 0% to 5.49% per month depending on the plan;
- GCredit: a revolving credit line charged at a 5% to 7% prorated interest rate based on the number of days borrowed.
As with any credit, borrow only what you can repay; the monthly rates add up if carried over time.
Other features
Beyond payments, GCash includes GInvest (invest in funds from small amounts), GInsure (affordable insurance), bills payment and load, a GCash Mastercard for in-store and online use, and QR Ph for paying and receiving across Philippine banks and wallets. It's designed as an all-in-one financial app rather than just a wallet.
GCash customer service
You can reach GCash support by phone:
- Globe/TM mobile subscribers: 2882 (toll-free);
- Other networks / landlines: (02) 7213-9999.
You can also use the in-app help and the GCash chatbot. Never share your MPIN, OTP or the code sent to your number with anyone — GCash will never ask for them, and that's how most account-takeover scams happen.
GCash vs Maya
GCash and Maya are the two dominant Philippine wallets. The key difference: Maya is itself a licensed digital bank (deposits PDIC-insured up to PHP 1M, savings up to 15%), while GCash is an e-money issuer whose savings (GSave) sit in partner banks like CIMB (2.30–4% p.a.). GCash leads on sheer reach (81M users, widest merchant acceptance) and its credit suite (GLoan/GGives/GCredit); Maya often wins on headline savings rates. Many Filipinos keep both, and since both support QR Ph, you can move money between them instantly.
Tips and common questions
A few practical points: verify your account to raise your wallet limit (up to PHP 100,000 fully verified, more on Plus/Platinum). To avoid fees, cash in via free channels (Payoneer, OTC under PHP 8,000/month) and use QR Ph / free GCash-to-GCash transfers. For savings, move money into GSave (CIMB) so it earns interest and sits in a PDIC-insured bank rather than as plain e-money. If a transfer fails but you were debited, it's usually reversed within a few days — keep the reference and raise it in-app. And guard your MPIN and OTP above all else.
Is GCash worth using in 2026?
For day-to-day money in the Philippines, GCash is close to essential: 81 million users, the widest acceptance, QR Ph payments, GSave for interest, and a full credit suite. The main things to understand are that your plain wallet balance isn't PDIC-insured (move savings to GSave for that), the small fees on bank transfers and certain cash-in/out methods, and the high monthly rates on credit. Used well — verified account, GSave for savings, free transfer channels, and credit only when needed — GCash is one of the most powerful financial apps available to Filipinos.
